Let's see, what should I tell you about myself? This almost feels like I am writing a personal ad, which I have never done, but sometimes think about. I actually like to think a lot, which I've found to be a blessing and a curse.
I grew up in Long Island, and no, I don't have the accent. I spent most of my summers in Shelter Island, which is a tiny island between the North and South forks of Eastern Long Island. It is here where I really like to say I grew up. I have the best memories of my childhood in Shelter Island, everything from bonfires and water-skiing to working at The Rams Head Inn and wearing culottes made out of upholstery material that matched the wallpaper (and, yes, those suckers were hot in the August heat!). If you ever want to find a true escape, visit Shelter Island (www.shelter-island.org) and expect nothing except relaxation and my favorite, no traffic lights!!
Here are a few other items I find absolutely enjoyable. Maybe you will too.
My favorite sandwich: peanut butter and bacon on toast
A cool place online to buy furniture: www.eurway.com
A great spot to download music: www.limewire.com
Favorite flavors: raspberry, pumpkin, coconut, toffee
Fun stuff: volleyball, cooking, skiing, getting massages
Some great music to listen to: Summer, Highland Falls by Billy Joel; Amie by Pure Prairie League (this one is one of my all-time favorites to belt out); Late In The Evening by Paul Simon (horn section is awesome in this song-basically any song with a good horn section gets me); What I Got by Sublime.
I love to travel. Kauai has got to be one of my all-time favorite spots I have been. The landscape of peaks and valleys that can be seen from a helicopter tour reminds me of that game where you drop sand into water and create spires of different colors. This has to be as close to heaven on earth that you can get. It is magnificent.
I don't read romance novels, history books or science fiction. I like Jodi Piccoult, John Grisham, Nicolas Sparks and the book that has always made an impact on me is The Giving Tree by Shel Silverstein. I also read Glamour when I travel and always flip to the last page first to read the Don'ts and see who got the black bar.
Since shopping is a passion of mine, I always look for ways to save money. A good spot to download all sorts of coupons is www.wow-coupons.com.
Did anyone say sangria???

Okay for those or you who know me you will find it hard to believe that when I was put to the task of writing my own personal bio, I was at a loss for words. I know I know hard to believe Andrea having problems talking about herself? Wonders never cease do they! Well here goes. I was born and raised in Norwalk, CT and went to Merrimack College in MA. I have tried to move out of CT a few times but with no luck so the powers that be are telling me this is my place. I love to read, I love to go out to dinner, I love to watch movies although I never seem to get to the movies nearly as much as I would like. I also like to experiment with different and all kinds of crafts. I am a master of none but a novice at lots! Currently my craft passion is knitting although if you want me to make you something, it may take a while for me to finish it. I love new adventures and love to try new things which is why My Time For Me came about. I figured everyone wanted to try most things at least once right?
I consider myself to be an oxymoron, for example I am a scatterbrain yet very organized, I believe that people get too worked about the small stuff in life, yet I get worked up about those people who get worked up. I love going out to dinner and having someone else cook for me but I also find cooking very enjoyable and relaxing. There is nothing like making a good meal for good people. I don't like to eat chicken because I am afraid it is never cooked but I love sushi. The list could go on and on but I won't bore you. But if you still want to know more, read below for some of my faves in life.
Favorite Movie: Joe vs the Volcano, All three original Star Wars movies and the first Back to the Future
Favorite Book: Beach Music by Pat Conroy, Anything by James Patterson, the Red Tent by Anita Diamante, the Sopranos Cookbook and yes I admit, my guilty pleasure is Nora Roberts books
Music: I am very scattered when it comes to music, I love Billy Joel, Tim McGraw and Bon Jovi, I like movie scores while I am working and ocean sounds (sometimes with Pachabell's Cannon) at night when I sleep.
My favorite place: On the Coast of Somewhere Beautiful (thanks Kenny Chesney) and someday I am going to have a house on the beach! I enjoy traveling and do it as much as possible wherever works for the current trip.
Favorite things to do: My Time for Me events of course, hope to see you at one soon!
Favorite Food: I love any kind of Italian food and am a big fan of Mexican food pretty much any kind of cheese or any food with cheese on it. Include a glass of red wine with any of the above and you will find a happy Andrea.
Favorite Quotes: "I am so very happy at this very moment" - said by me
"A great pleasure in life is doing what people say you cannot" - Walter Bagehot
"When you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change" - unknown
